a week in fashion #19

*Some of my birthday presents. Or: the ingredients for a great to do list. Start the day with reading “Parisian Chic” by Ines de la Fressange, then watch “The Day Before” (a great documentary series that follows designers during the day before their show), while painting nails in Mac’s Ocean Dip. I would’ve shown you the macarons Okka baked me (Yes! She bakes! Macarons!) – if I hadn’t eaten them already.

*It’s almost impossible to pick the most absurd quote from Karl Lagerfeld’s interview with Vice (conducted by the incomparable Bruca LaBruce and uncovered by The Guardian‘s Fashion Statement. But let’s go with: “I personally only like high-class escorts. I don’t like sleeping with people I really love. I don’t want to sleep with them because sex cannot last, but affection can last forever. I think this is healthy. And for the way the rich live, this is possible. But the other world, I think they need porn.”

*If you haven’t started welling up 10 seconds into this clip from “L’amour Fou”, your heart is made of stone.

*Lovely idea: The Makers Project. Photographer Jennifer Causey documents the work of artisans in Brooklyn. (via Because I’m Addicted)

*Gaia Repossi shares her favourite beauty products on Into the Gloss. My first thought about it: She uses the same face cream as me! Haha! (Yes, I’m silly. Yes, the face cream really is very good)

*I love everything about Maya Villiger’s picture of this girl. Everything.

Happy weekend!
