And here’s the manicure I got in New York. Nice, isn’t it? Dreamy even. The reality is that my nails look like this about as often as I travel to New York, i.e. every few years. Firstly: I’m terrible at applying polish. It starts well enough on the left hand, but once I’m done with the little finger on my right hand, the result is a three-year-olds arts and crafts project. Paint everywhere! And, secondly, even though I’ve found a few good places in the desert for nail salons that is Berlin (going to the Cowshed Spa at Soho House makes me feel like the lady of leisure that a good manicure pretends I am) nail polish doesn’t last on my nails. Because I do so much housework? Ahahahahaha. Ha. Ha. No. My nails just chip easily.
So maybe it’s because I don’t get a manicure very often, and my nails look best when they’re cut short, that I stick to the classics when I do: nudes, bright reds or a really dark red (this is “Deep” from RGB. I like their colours and their philosophy: nail polishes made without the use of carcinogens and formaldehyde).
What about you? Do you like experimenting with colours? Which ones? And: Any tricks for making the polish last?
P.S. I’d have been lost in New York without the “Not For Tourists” guide. It’s genius. Plus: NFT do editions for a bunch of cities worldwide.
