I’m trying very, very hard not to fall asleep right now. It’s been a long week, spent chasing deadlines, running around the shops getting Christmas presents, packing suitcases, unpacking suitcases, repacking suitcases. James and I are taking a little trip next week. And there was so much to do beforehand that we’ve had no time to look around for online stuff that we think you might enjoy.
But one thing I did enjoy this week, and actually do every week of the year, is Maya Villiger’s blog Turned out. She doesn’t post as often as I’d like, but what she posts is consistently great. Really, I’ve yet to see a picture she’s taken that I don’t find beautiful. Maya has a completely unique point of view, her photography looks like nothing else I’ve seen on a fashion blog. I love how intimate her pictures feel. I love that she gives you the feeling she’s best friends with the women she photographs, even if she might not be.
And I love her personal style: boyish, relaxed, but refined. Here’s a picture I took of her at work in Paris. I almost approached her, but then didn’t have the guts. I know! Silly. But doesn’t she look cool? Hopefully that’s what I’ll look like about a week from now – minus the Chanel handbag.
If you’ve got 20 minutes this weekend, and even if you haven’t got any time at all, go to Turned out, browse the archives and enjoy the pictures. I desperately needed those 20 minutes today.
But now: sleep.
Good night! And have a great weekend.
