There’s a reason why a white shirt is considered a classic.
Actually, there are a few reasons: It suggests comfort. Simplicity. Ease. A white shirt worn with jeans is such an established expression of easy-going style that it has lasted through the decades. But mostly I like a white shirt because it demands almost nothing of me – and works with nearly everything.
Denim, of course, but also dressier pants, pretty much any skirt, you can even wear it under a dress or, actually, as a dress.
I like what would traditionally be considered menswear cuts: loose, a bit longer, made from heavier cotton. The new range of Oxford shirts from Organic Basics ticks all of those boxes. I came to know the brand through their activewear and lingerie, which I’ve featured on Instagram before, and the shirts have the same high standard of quality, from the sustainable production to the 100% GOTS certified organic cotton and recycled hemp buttons.
I’ve worn both the Oxford Shirt and the Oxford Long Shirt in a number of different ways, some of which I’m showing you here, as they easily transition from day to night – quite literally, as I’ve started wearing the Long Shirt to sleep in, it’s that comfortable to wear.
Both shirts are also available in light blue. The long shirt comes in a third colorway, too: a lovely khaki color.
I’m collaborating with the brand to offer you a 10 per cent discount on all of their products – I highly recommend both the SilverTech activewear and the Tencel underwear – available through their online store. The code is MARLENESOB3
EDIT (I originally wrote that the discount code is for 15 per cent. I’m so sorry. The code allows for a 10 per cent discount. I hope that it’s still useful to you)
