As James has been travelling around Europe with the camera that we normally use, I dug out my dad’s old Mamiya and took it to Fashion Week to shoot some film.
Listen to me! “Shoot some film”. It was more like “conduct an insane experiment, because I haven’t used this camera in an incredibly long time”. So long that I had to look up how to correctly rewind the film spool. Seriously.
When you’re walking around with a camera like that, two things happen: 1. You’re approached by photographers and camera nerds, mostly male, who ask you: “Can I hold it? Just for one second?” And then they start talking exposure and grain, which I found so flattering that I pretended I knew exactly what they were talking about. And 2. You take less pictures than you normally would. A lot less. But the result is better than I had anticipated and I will probably upload more pictures in the next couple of days.
But let’s start with this beauty. I met her earlier today at a party for the Styleproofed x Iris von Arnim “Shades of Cashmere” collection (which is great, by the way, and you can now get the cardis, scarves and hats at Stylebop). While everyone else in the room was complaining about the heat, this girl looked very cool in her silky top and striped miniskirt. She also remembered the first rule of fashion week (that almost everyone else, including me, keeps forgetting): wear flat sandals.
Have a great weekend, everybody!
