(Guys, you can skip this one. Unless you suffer from “swimming trunk anxiety”. In which case you’re probably not a guy.)

So, can we talk about bikinis for a moment? Not that I really want to, as that seems to be the only thing every fashion mag and gossip rag is talking about at the moment. Get your bikini body. Loose ten pounds before the start of summer. Best beach bodies. It’s everywhere. It’s tiring. And it’s bullshit, of course.

I have not met one woman that says: “Yup, got my bikini body. Let’s hit the beach!” That body, it doesn’t exist. It seems somewhat superfluous to even point out that a uniform shape is an unattainable goal. I shouldn’t really have to mention either that being on the beach should be about being on the beach and not about trying to match an insane standard. My point isn’t that I don’t want to look good on the beach. I do. My point is that most days I feel good about my body. Other days I don’t, but I don’t torture myself over it. And yet, I never feel comfortable when I’m trying on a bikini, because there are approximately 187 images of perfect bikini bodies standing next to me in the changing rooms. Normally I then decide to wear my old bikini for another summer.

I’m exhausted just thinking about buying a new one this year (and, yeah, I know I’m late. I was supposed to buy one in March, at around the same time I started hitting the gym five times a week to prepare for the beach. Blablabla). But I have to. My old one, one that I love, which does make me feel good and is indeed perfect, needs replacing after four years. I might just go back to Princesse TamTam, where I got this one. But before I do: Any tips? Where do you buy yours? Best suggestion gets an ice-cream!
