a week in fashion #13

*I assisted a friend in shopping for a wedding dress this week. After spending three hours in a cloud of organza and silk at Kaviar Gauche, I have decided that more of my friends need to get married.

*Speaking of weddings: British Vogue rounds up stylish souvenirs to commemorate William and Kate’s wedding, including, yes darlings, silver party poppers for 24 quid. However, this poster is actually quite charming.

*Whenever I needed a good laugh this week, I looked at Fashion Indie’s “Fashion poses that will get you into Vogue“. I’m partial to The Wistful Coo because of the instruction that comes along with it: “I’m caught in a violent hurricane of couture but my inner calm — brought on by years of yoga and a small army of morally-suspect pharmacists — keeps me the smizing eye of the storm.” (Thank you for the link, Okka!)

*And then, when I needed to laugh a little more, I read the quotes from Gwyneth Paltrow’s upcoming cookbook. Such as this one: “I first had a version of this at a Japanese monastery during a silent retreat – don’t ask, it’s a long story.” Oh, Gwyneth.

*The Selby photographed how Berlin lives for this week’s SZ Magazin. What a nice idea. (Article in German)

*And the New York Times shows how British designer Margaret Howell lives. Her house looks exactly like her clothes.
