a week in fashion #18

*Between James and me there is a ridiculous number of sunglasses scattered around the house. So when our friend Ellen asked to visit with a case full of sunnies, we answered: When can you be here? She came round this afternoon, which is a pretty nice way to start the weekend. I’ll have those white-framed Roberto Cavalli’s and these beauties from Tom Ford, please. And a genie who’ll grant me “money for sunglasses” as my third wish.

*Make that a fourth wish: I’d like a plane ticket to New York to see the “Savage Beauty” exhibit in celebration of Alexander McQueen’s work. While I’m waiting for the genie to work his magic, I’m watching this video of Philip Treacy and Shaun Leane talking about their collaboration on a headpiece for the fall 2006 collection. It must’ve been wonderful to work with someone who they clearly adored.

*I’ll also be waiting for the Armadillo shoe ornament to come back in stock.

*A new favourite read: Tales of Endearment, Natalie Joos’ blog, with this week’s entry about Beyond Retro and Poppy Delevigne.

*I love Tilda Swinton. I love her even more in Haider Ackermann.

*More love: George Clooney wins in court against three guys trying to use his name (and image) for a fashion label by stating: “I don’t wear long jean shorts.”

*New York Magazine links to Lady Gaga’s column from the current issue of V, which was almost unbearably annoying to read. Until I got to the last paragraph where she says the article took her weeks (WEEKS) to write. And then I laughed and laughed and laughed.

Happy weekend!
