ready for take-off

The recent Lanvin for H&M men’s wear collection looked like it had taken its style direction from designer Alber Elbaz himself with white shirts, soft tailored jackets and, of course, enormous bow ties.

That latter appears to be an item that divides opinion, but I boldly believed this was something I could pull off.

Verdict: It proved harder to make work than I thought, but after a couple of failures that made me look like a waiter/childrens entertainer, I came up with this combination: chequered shirt and red velvet jacket. It definitely needs the right event to wear it to, but with party season upon us, I’m sure I’ll find the right occasion.
