Yesterday morning. The doorbell rings.
James: “Are you expecting someone? The shoe-man again?”
Me: “I don’t know why you keep calling our postman that. Incidentally, he’s not delivering shoes today. He’s bringing a hat.”
James: “A hat? When did you buy a hat?”
Me: “There wasn’t any time to tell you about it. It all happened so fast!”
James (starts chuckling): “That’s the most ridiculous excuse I’ve heard, yet.”
Me: “But it’s true! When I checked my mails the other day I had one from Stylebop saying that new stock from Rika had arrived, so I went to the website, saw the hat, bought the hat. It was a two-minute job.”
James (laughing now): “It all happened so fast – unbelievable!”
Me: “Stop laughing. I’ve been wanting it for months and it was the last one they had. It’s my Carine tribute hat. Is that silly?”
James (in hysterics): “No sillier than saying you shopped so fast that there wasn’t any time to tell me about it.”
Me: “But it looks good, doesn’t it?”
James: “Yes. Should I be expecting the hat-man more often?”
Me: “It’s possible. But the shoe-man is definitely coming next.”
More lovely things by Rika are now available on Stylebop – if you’re fast enough.

I totally understand. Sometimes these things just are uncontrollable! MY hat goes off to yours for acting so quickly in a high-pressure situation!!

It always seems to help when I don’t waste any time by looking at the price before clicking “buy”, ahem.
