Two more days and we’re of to Denmark for a week of hanging out at my parents’ summer house, eating soft ice by the liter and building sand castles that Arlo will surely demolish with his incredible two-year-old energy – and my goodness, is he two at the moment! The weather forecast is for 18 degrees, cloudy with a chance of rain. I’m packing my new panama hat anyway. I found it, once again, at the farmer’s market on Kollwitzplatz here in Berlin, where a very knowledgable hat vendor sets up shop during the summer months. He’s very good about giving advice on how to care for straw hats. He’s also very good about holding up a mirror when you can’t decide between three hat styles for absolute ages.

With our upcoming move moving closer and closer, I’m trying to radically reduce the clutter in our current apartment. I’ve been pretty ruthless so far, except when it comes to my collection of magazines. I just can’t throw them away. James is right in asking if I’m ever going to read the issue of W again with Angelina Jolie on the cover, photographed by Brad Pitt. Probably not. But what a cover! What pictures! What a story! I’ve got to keep that magazine, even if I could find both text and photos online. It’s just not the same (spoke ye olde print journalist).

It makes sense to at least not keep buying more magazines at the moment that we’ll then have to pack. But I couldn’t resist the latest issue of Cabana. The design magazine, although it feels more like a book in both scope and effort, from publisher Martina Mondadori Sartogo comes out twice a year and I’ll probably want to look at it forever. I’d even happily wallpaper out new apartment with the current cover, designed by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, and the rest of the magazine is just as sumptuous. You can shop some of the contents over at 1stdibs, such as the chairs that Mondadori Sartogo designed together with Michele. Compared to those, the magazine itself is a bargain. And much, much easier to move.

As I was saying about white dresses: There’s nothing better right now. It makes you stand out with ease, like Maï-Linh, who I stopped at the Skagen shop opening in Paris last week, because I wanted to capture her look for future reference. She paired her crisp cotton lwd with tan lace-ups, some silver jewelry and pink lipstick. A picture of summer.

As we’re about to move, I’m finally tackling the hard bit: Cleaning out my closet. I’ve started putting some much loved items, like this Acne Amon blouse, up for sale in my shop. So maybe they’ll find a new home with you. I’ll add more in the coming weeks, but there’s loads from Ann Demeulemeester to Topshop in the shop already, and a few kids’ items too.
